Where LMU is, and why that helps you
The Westchester campus is at 1 LMU Drive, and the main entrance is the corner of Lincoln Blvd and LMU Drive. LMU's admission office puts it approximately four miles north of Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), so a parent flying in can often land, pick up a car or a ride, and reach the residence halls without crossing the rest of Los Angeles. Marina del Rey, Playa Vista and the Century Blvd hotel strip near the airport are all close by.
How the LMU year is built
LMU uses semesters. In 2026 to 27, fall instruction begins Monday, August 31 and fall final exams end Friday, December 18. Spring instruction starts Monday, January 11, 2027, and spring finals finish Wednesday, May 12. Commencement is spread over Saturday, May 15 and Sunday, May 16, 2027, with graduation events on the two days before.
The spring term has two separate pauses a few weeks apart: Spring Break Holidays from March 1 to 5 and Easter Holidays from March 24 to 26. Fall has a single day off called Autumn Day (Friday, October 9) plus the Thanksgiving Holidays, Wednesday, November 25 through Friday, November 27.
Family Weekend is in October
LMU Family Weekend for 2026 runs October 21 to 25, with most events starting mid day Thursday, October 22. Registration goes through the ManeHub portal and is priced in tiers that rise as the weekend gets closer. The visit page points families to a list of local hotels with LMU rates.
Where students live
Student Housing says 3,700 students live on campus, in traditional halls, suites, apartments and theme houses. First year options include Del Rey North and South, Desmond, Doheny, Rosecrans and Whelan. Upperclass students move into suite buildings such as McCarthy, McKay and Rains, or apartments such as Hannon, Leavey 4 to 6, O'Malley, Palm South and Tenderich. Housing runs four area offices (North, East, West and South) that handle day to day questions once your student is settled.
One detail far from home families should know early: residence halls and suite style buildings close over winter break, from December 18, 2026 until the spring opening on January 9, 2027, while apartments stay open.
