Information, not official advice

Far From Home is an independent parent community. We are not affiliated with or endorsed by any college or university. We check every fact against a source and show when we last verified it, but schools change dates, rules and phone numbers. Always confirm with the official school source before you book travel or make plans. Nothing on this site is medical, legal or financial advice. In an emergency call 911.

Listings

Hotels, pharmacies and other places are listed for convenience, based on location and what parents recommend. A listing is not an endorsement, and we do not accept payment for listings.

Facebook groups

Our parent groups live on Facebook and follow Facebook's terms as well as our Community Guidelines. Group admins may decline requests and remove posts or members who break the rules.

Tips and submissions

When you share a tip and agree to publication, you give us permission to publish and lightly edit it on this site and in our emails with the credit line you chose. Please share only what you have the right to share, and nothing that identifies another student.

Emails

If you sign up, we send up to 2 reminder emails a month for the schools you pick, plus confirmation and welcome emails. You can unsubscribe at any time from any email.

Sponsor

College Cubbies supports Far From Home. Where it operates, you may see a clearly labeled “From our sponsor” note. Editorial content is never paid for.

Use of the site

Please don't misuse the site, for example by scraping it at scale, sending spam through its forms, or trying to break its security. School names belong to their owners and are used only to identify the schools our groups serve.

No warranties

The site is provided as is. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for losses that come from relying on information here, from outside websites we link to, or from the site being unavailable.
