Where GCU is and how you get in

The main campus address is 3300 W. Camelback Road, Phoenix, AZ 85017. GCU describes itself as a private, gated campus with its own police force, so you will not just drive onto the grounds. Visitors enter at 33rd Avenue, show a driver's license to the Public Safety officer, and leave with a temporary permit for the dashboard. GCU's campus visit page puts downtown Phoenix about 15 minutes away.

This hub is for families of traditional campus students who live in Phoenix. The dates here follow GCU's traditional campus calendar, which lists online college commencements separately.

Flying in

GCU's commencement FAQ names Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (PHX) as the closest airport. Rideshare cars pick up at marked outer curbs at Terminals 3 and 4, and the PHX Sky Train connects to Valley Metro Rail at its 44th Street station.

How the school year runs

GCU uses semesters. Fall 2026 classes began Sept 8 after Welcome Week, and spring classes start Jan 4, 2027. A few quirks are worth knowing early: instruction moves online for three days before Thanksgiving, Christmas break is only two weeks (Dec 21 to Jan 3), and living areas close for all students on Dec 20. Spring break is March 15 to 21, and the move out deadline is April 26, 2027.

Family Weekend comes early in the fall, about a month into classes, with registration through the Lope Family Hub.

Where your student lives

On campus housing mixes residence halls with apartment communities. GCU's housing page names Ocotillo Hall along with the Antelope, Papago, Cactus, Palo Verde, Santa Cruz and Turquoise apartments. Housing comes furnished, and each furnished apartment includes a Twin XL bed and desk. Housing charges typically cover water, electricity and internet, and every resident has to choose a meal plan. Housing Operations works out of the Student Life Building (Building 26).

The office for parents

GCU's parent and family programs sit with the Department of Welcome Programs. You can call or text (602) 639-6002 or email Welcome@gcu.edu on weekdays from 8 am to 5 pm. Its Lope Family Hub is where families hear about important dates, housing deadlines, campus events and Family Weekend.

What else is in this hub

The other pages cover the full 2026 to 27 dates, getting to Phoenix and where parents stay, the curbside move in and the December and April move outs, and local help such as the campus clinic, GCU Public Safety, the Mail Center address format and nearby pharmacies. There is also a parent FAQ with a who to call list.
