Privacy Policy

Far From Home (farfromhomeparents.com) is run by College Cubbies LLC. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. We do not sell your personal information, and we never will.

What we collect

• Email signups: your email address and the school or schools you pick. Optional: your first name, your student's class year and your home state.
• Parent tips: the tip you write, the credit line you choose, and your name and email so we can follow up. Your name and email are never shown.
• School requests: the school name, your email if you give it, and the optional details on the form.
• Analytics: page views and a few events, such as clicking a join button, counted without cookies and without identifiers stored on your device.
• Security data: to stop spam we keep a one way scrambled (hashed) version of your IP address with form submissions, and Cloudflare Turnstile checks that a person is filling out the form.

Why we collect it

• To send the key dates and reminders you asked for, and nothing you didn't.
• To review and publish tips you give us permission to share.
• To decide which schools to add next and tell you when your school opens.
• To understand which pages help families, and to keep forms free of spam.

Who processes it for us

We use a small number of service providers, only to run the site and the emails:

• Supabase (database)
• Vercel (website hosting)
• Resend (email delivery)
• PostHog (cookieless analytics)
• Cloudflare Turnstile (spam protection on forms)

College Cubbies, which supports Far From Home, does not receive your email address. Some emails may include a clearly labeled note from them.

How long we keep it

• Email subscribers: while you are subscribed. After you unsubscribe we keep only a record that you opted out, so we never email you again.
• Signups that are never confirmed: deleted after 30 days.
• Tip submissions and school requests: up to 2 years, then deleted.
• Spam protection records: a few days.

Unsubscribing and deleting your information

Every email has an unsubscribe link and a link to manage your schools. Unsubscribing takes effect right away. To have us delete your information, email hello@farfromhomeparents.com from the address you signed up with, and we will confirm within 30 days. California residents have the right to know, to delete and to correct the personal information we hold.

We don't sell or share it

We do not sell your personal information or share it for advertising. We do not use ad pixels or retargeting.

Do Not Track

Our analytics do not use cookies and do not follow you across other websites, so we treat every visit the same way whether or not your browser sends a Do Not Track signal.

Children

This site is written for parents and families of college students. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes

If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will update the date at the top and, for big changes, tell subscribers by email.
