ASU Health, Safety and Local Resources for Parents

For a sick student, ASU Health Services at the Health Service Building on University Drive is the first call, and its main number doubles as an after hours advice line. ASU Police, Counseling Services and Student Delivery Services handle safety, mental health and packages on the Tempe campus.

If your student is sick

ASU Health Services sees students at the Health Service Building, 451 E University Dr, Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., in person or by telehealth. Your student books by calling (480) 965-3349 or through the My Health Portal. After hours, the same number, option 1, reaches medical advice for urgent concerns.

For nights and weekends, the Health Services locations page lists two urgent cares for the Tempe campus: the clinic at 725 S Rural Rd, now called HonorHealth Urgent Care (ASU still lists it under its former FastMed name), and NextCare at 914 N Scottsdale Rd. It also lists HonorHealth Tempe Medical Center at 1500 S Mill Ave and, for emergency care, Banner Desert Medical Center at 1400 S Dobson Rd in Mesa. Save those to your phone before your student needs them.

Pharmacies

Health Services points Tempe students to the Walgreens at 1745 E Southern Ave and calls it a 24 hour location, but the Walgreens store page does not show round the clock hours, so check before a late night trip. CVS has Tempe stores at 802 S Mill Ave and 909 E Apache Blvd. If your student transfers a prescription from home, have them do it before the old supply runs out.

Counseling

ASU Counseling Services, (480) 965-6146, offers same day appointments in person or by telehealth, weekdays 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The EMPACT crisis line above is there at any hour.

Campus police and getting around safely

The ASU Police Department works 24 hours a day from its Tempe station at 325 E Apache Blvd. The non emergency line is (480) 965-3456. ASU Police offers the LiveSafe app, which lets students send tips, call or text 911, share a SafeWalk so you can follow their route on a map, and request help for a dead battery or a locked car. On the Tempe campus, LiveSafe also requests the student run Safety Escort Service; if the app is down, call (480) 965-1515.

ASU Alerts for life threatening situations go out through LiveSafe, ASU email and text messages to the phone number in your student's My ASU profile, so make sure that number is current.

Mail and packages

Student Delivery Services asks for your student's full name as it appears in ASU records plus their Student Delivery Code, both shown in My ASU under Campus Services. Copy the complete address from My ASU rather than writing one from memory. Packages land in Luxer One smart lockers, and your student gets an ASU email with a pickup code.

Tempe pickup points are the Palo Verde East Rotunda next to Starbucks (code PVE) and Building G at Hassayampa Academic Village next to the dining hall (code HAV), both open 6 a.m. to 9:30 p.m., plus the lobby of Tempe's New Residence Hall (code TNW), open 24 hours.

Groceries and money

The Safeway at 926 E Broadway Rd is one full size grocery store in Tempe. For money questions, your student can invite you through My ASU Parent Guest Access, which can show finances, Parent PLUS loan details and authorized payer permission.

Care packages

Use the same My ASU address with the Delivery Code, and tell your student a box is coming so they watch for the locker email. If you are mailing medication that has to stay cold, email Student Delivery Services before it arrives so they can plan for it.
