Which ASU campus does this guide cover?

This hub covers the Tempe campus. ASU also has Downtown Phoenix, Polytechnic and West Valley campuses, and Family Weekend 2026 runs events on all four, so check which campus each session is on.

Dates and breaks

When is ASU Family Weekend 2026?

Friday, Nov 6 to Sunday, Nov 8, 2026, with the football game against Colorado on Saturday, Nov 7. Registration is $48 for guests and $27 for students and closes Oct 18 at 11:59 p.m., after which a $10 per ticket late fee applies.

When is fall 2026 move in at the Tempe campus?

University Housing lists Tempe move in as Aug 15 to 16, 2026. Your student gets an assigned appointment time by ASU email during the first week of July, and classes start Thursday, Aug 20.

How long is Thanksgiving break at ASU?

The registrar lists the Thanksgiving holiday as Thursday and Friday, Nov 26 to 27, 2026. Monday through Wednesday of that week are not listed as days off.

When are fall 2026 finals and commencement?

Fall final exams run Monday, Dec 7 to Saturday, Dec 12, 2026, and fall commencement is Monday, Dec 14.

Travel and where to stay

What is the closest airport to ASU in Tempe?

Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (PHX), about 5 miles from campus and about a ten minute drive to downtown Tempe, according to ASU. The free PHX Sky Train links the terminals to Valley Metro Rail at 44th and Washington streets.

Where can I park when I visit the Tempe campus?

Visitors can use the campus parking structures, such as Apache Boulevard, Fulton Center, Rural Road and Tyler Street, at $4 for the first hour up to $16 a day. Surface lots such as Lot 59 are $3 an hour up to $15, paid through ParkMobile or AMP, and weekend visitors pay in the garages too.

Does ASU have hotel discounts for visiting parents?

Yes. The Visit ASU travel page lists 11 Tempe hotels with ASU visitor rates, including Omni Tempe Hotel at ASU, Tempe Mission Palms and Graduate Tempe. For Family Weekend 2026, discounted blocks are held until filled or Oct 7.

Move in and move out

What should my student not bring to an ASU residence hall?

Housing bans open heating elements such as toasters, hot plates, electric heaters and Instant Pots, along with hoverboards, motorized scooters, candles, wax melts and pets. A mini fridge can be up to 4.0 cubic feet and a microwave up to 700 watts.

When does my student have to move out in May 2027?

Housing asks residents to plan to check out within 24 hours after their last final exam. The 2026 to 27 housing academic year runs through May 8, 2027, and Housing posts the exact checkout time on its move out page.

Can my student stay in the dorms over winter break?

University Housing says students with an active academic year license agreement are welcome to stay for winter break. Housing sends instructions by ASU email in October or November.

Health, safety and local life

Where should my student go if they get sick?

ASU Health Services, at the Health Service Building on University Drive, is open Monday to Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at (480) 965-3349. After hours, option 1 on that number reaches medical advice, and Health Services lists nearby urgent cares, including NextCare on Scottsdale Road and HonorHealth Urgent Care (formerly FastMed) on Rural Road.

What address do I use to mail a package to my student?

Use your student's full name as it appears in ASU records plus their Student Delivery Code, exactly as shown in My ASU under Campus Services. Packages go to smart lockers at Palo Verde East, Hassayampa Academic Village or Tempe's New Residence Hall.

What is the ASU Police non emergency number?

Call (480) 965-3456. The Tempe station is at 325 E Apache Blvd, and the Safety Escort Service can be reached through the LiveSafe app or at (480) 965-1515.

Can I see my student's grades or tuition bill?

Only if your student invites you through My ASU Parent Guest Access. Guests can be given access to grades, class schedule, finances and authorized payer permission; questions go to (855) 278-5080.

Who do I call if I am worried about my student?

The Dean of Students office at (480) 965-6547 helps with family or personal emergencies and extended absences. ASU Counseling Services is at (480) 965-6146, with a 24/7 crisis line at (480) 921-1006.

University Housing

Room assignments, move in appointments, winter break stays and move out. Call (480) 965-3515 or email housing@asu.edu, Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Financial Aid and Scholarship Services

Grants, scholarships, work study and FAFSA questions. Start at the Financial Aid and Scholarship Services site.

University Registrar and Parent Guest Access

Your student decides what you can see. From the Profile tab in My ASU, they add you as a guest and send a validation code. Guest access can include class schedule, final grades, finances, Parent PLUS loan information, authorized payer permission and on campus housing. Questions about guest access go to (855) 278-5080.

ASU Health Services

Primary care, sports medicine, women's health and other outpatient care at the Health Service Building, 451 E University Dr. Call (480) 965-3349, Monday to Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.; after hours, option 1 reaches medical advice.

ASU Counseling Services

Same day appointments, in person or by telehealth: (480) 965-6146. The 24/7 crisis line is (480) 921-1006.

ASU Police

Non emergency calls: (480) 965-3456. Safety Escort on the Tempe campus: (480) 965-1515 or the LiveSafe app. Life threatening emergencies: 911.

Dean of Students

Call (480) 965-6547 when your student faces an extended absence, a family or personal emergency, or a problem with grading or a class they cannot sort out alone. The office connects students with help across campus.

Visitor parking

ASU Parking and Transit Services sets the hourly rates for the Tempe garages and surface lots and posts them on its daily and hourly parking page. Check it before a visit, since the garages charge on weekends too.

Student Delivery Services

Missing or delayed packages, Delivery Codes and smart locker problems, by email through the Student Deliveries page. Expect a reply within one business day.
