Dates and breaks
When is University of Arizona Family Weekend 2026?
Family Weekend 2026 is Oct. 2 to 4. Friday, Oct. 2 is packed with events such as Fall Fest and Jazz Under the Stars, and the Family Weekend site lists an 8 p.m. football kickoff. Questions go to Parent & Family Programs at (520) 621-0884.
When does fall 2026 move in start at the University of Arizona?
New students move in Aug. 18 to 20, 2026 and returning students Aug. 21 to 22. Approved housing and campus groups can arrive Aug. 15, and classes begin Aug. 24.
When do the dorms close for winter break, and when do they reopen?
Dorms close Friday, Dec. 18, 2026 at 12 noon, except for students in winter break housing. They reopen Jan. 10, 2027 at 12 noon, and spring classes start Jan. 13.
When are fall 2026 finals?
Fall finals run Dec. 11 to 17, after the last day of classes on Dec. 9 and Reading Day on Dec. 10. Check your student's own exam times before booking a flight, since the dorms close at noon on Dec. 18.
Are the dorms open over Thanksgiving?
Yes. Student Affairs and Housing list Thanksgiving Recess as Nov. 26 to 29, 2026 with the dorms open, so your student can stay in Tucson.
When is spring break 2027?
Spring break runs March 6 to 14, 2027, with no classes.
When is University of Arizona commencement 2027?
The university commencement ceremony is Friday, May 14, 2027 at 7:30 p.m. at Casino Del Sol Stadium. The Commencement office says dates and times are subject to change; reach it at (520) 621-3644.
Travel and where to stay
What is the closest airport to the University of Arizona?
Tucson International Airport (TUS), about a 15 minute drive from campus. Sun Tran Routes 11 and 25 stop outside the main terminal and are currently fare free.
Can we fly into Phoenix and get to Tucson without a rental car?
Yes. Groome Transportation runs 16 shuttles a day each way between Phoenix Sky Harbor and Tucson. Its University of Arizona stop is at 501 N. Park Ave., about 2 hours from PHX on Groome's posted schedule. Groome recommends booking at least 24 hours ahead.
Where can I park when I visit campus?
Visitor garages include Cherry Avenue, Main Gate, Park Avenue, Sixth Street, Tyndall Avenue and Second Street, with tiered hourly rates and a $16 daily maximum. Surface lots are $2 an hour through the parking app.
Which hotels are closest to campus?
On the Arizona Alumni list, Aloft Tucson University on Speedway is closest at 0.8 miles from Arizona Stadium, and Graduate Tucson on East 2nd Street is 1.3 miles. Downtown hotels such as the AC Hotel (1.6 miles) are linked to campus by the free Sun Link streetcar.
Move in and move out
What size sheets fit University of Arizona dorm beds?
Most beds are 80 inch extra long twin, so buy twin XL sheets. Housing notes that full beds are available in some dorms.
What can't my student bring to the dorms?
Housing prohibits items including candles and incense, space heaters, halogen lamps, toasters and other open coil appliances, Instant Pots and air fryers, full size refrigerators, adhesive LED strips, routers, and electric scooters or hoverboards. See the full prohibited items list.
When does my student have to move out in May 2027?
Dorms close Friday, May 14, 2027, and all residents must be out by 12 noon unless they live in summer housing. Students with extenuating circumstances should talk with their Community Director in advance.
Health, safety and local life
What is the mailing address for a University of Arizona dorm?
Use your student's name, dorm and room number, then their building's street address. Housing's example is Wilbur Wildcat, Likins-101, 500 N Highland Ave., Tucson, AZ 85719, and each dorm's address is on Housing's Dorm Contact Information page. Front desks cannot accept deliveries from non certified carriers, including grocery and food delivery services, flowers, or anything that needs refrigeration.
What should my student do if they get sick at night or on a weekend?
Call Campus Health's after hours line at (520) 570-7898, where a medical provider is always on call. Campus Health also lists nearby urgent care and Banner University Medical Center Tucson at 1625 N. Campbell Ave. For an emergency, call 911.
Can I see my student's grades?
Not automatically. Your student can share academic information with you through a Guest Link in UAccess, and parents of dependent students can file an access form with the university each term.
Who to contact for what
Federal privacy law (FERPA) means many offices will talk to you only with your student's written permission, so it helps to know who handles what before you call.

Housing & Residential Life. Move in slots, room assignments, closing deadlines, winter and summer housing, and move in accommodations. (520) 621-6501, housing@arizona.edu. Front desk mail questions go to HSG-Deskops@arizona.edu.
Office of Scholarships & Financial Aid. Financial aid and scholarship questions. (520) 621-1858, weekdays 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. (Tuesdays from 9 a.m.), Administration Building Room 208. If you email on your student's behalf, the office needs an Information Release form on file first. Tuition bills, refunds and payment plans belong to the Bursar's Office at bursar.arizona.edu.
Office of the Registrar. Student records and the academic calendar. (520) 621-3113, reghelp@arizona.edu, Administration Building Room 210, 1401 E. University Blvd. Your student can give you a Guest Link in UAccess to share academic information, and parents of dependent students can file the "Access to Student Education Records by Parents" form, which has to be submitted for each term.
Campus Health Service. Appointments, illness and injuries. (520) 621-9202 weekdays; after hours, (520) 570-7898 reaches an on call provider.
Counseling & Psychological Services (CAPS). Counseling and crisis support. (520) 621-3334, answered 24/7.
