If your student is sick

Student Health Services (SHS) is in the Triton Health and Wellness Building near Center Hall and Town Square, 9520 Gilman Drive. In person hours are Monday 8 am to 6 pm (4 pm in summer), Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday 8 am to 4 pm, and Thursday 9 am to 4 pm, with extra telehealth hours on Tuesday and Thursday evenings and Saturdays during the academic year. SHS closes on university holidays. The main line, (858) 249-3400, also connects to a free 24/7 nurse line.

When SHS is closed, UC San Diego's Quarter Break Resources page points students to UC San Diego Health Urgent Care at 8910 Villa La Jolla Drive, open daily 8 am to 8 pm with shorter hours or closures on some holidays, where students can walk in or save a spot online. For emergencies, SHS lists Jacobs Medical Center at 9434 Medical Center Drive, 1.6 miles from campus, (858) 657-7600, and the Scripps La Jolla emergency room at 9888 Genesee Ave, 2.2 miles away. The UC SHIP emergency room copay is $150.

In an emergency call 911. For a mental health crisis, the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline is available 24/7. Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) shares the Triton Health and Wellness Building, is open weekdays 8 am to 4:30 pm at (858) 249-0030, and offers after hours crisis counseling at the same number, option 2.

Pharmacies

The SHS Pharmacy, (858) 249-0930, is in the same building. It bills only UC SHIP insurance, though students without UC SHIP get discounted prices, and it accepts electronic prescriptions from outside providers. Transfers from another pharmacy take about 24 hours. Off campus, a CVS Pharmacy sits at 8831 Villa La Jolla Dr., (858) 457-4480.

Campus police and safety

UC San Diego Police take non emergency calls at (858) 534-4357. In an emergency, the department says dialing 911 from a mobile phone, campus phone or call box reaches a campus dispatcher, and texting 911 works across San Diego County. The Campus Safety Escort Service, (858) 534-9255, runs from sunset to 4 am year round and through the Tapride app. Triton Alert sends emergency texts and emails; the sign up link is on the Parent and Family Programs Campus Safety page. For campus emergency status, call (888) 308-8273.

Mail and packages

Student Mail runs parcel centers in or near 17 housing communities and accepts USPS, UPS, FedEx, DHL and Amazon. Each college has its own address format, so use your student's college page on the Student Mail site. At Revelle it looks like this:

Full lived name
9450 Gilman Dr.
70XXX (assigned box number)
La Jolla, CA 92092-2008

Your student finds the box number in the housing portal (QwikPass) or through their Residence Life office. Packages usually take 1 to 2 days to process after arrival, longer at peak times, and students get an email from studentmail@ucsd.edu when something is waiting in a locker. Revelle's parcel center in Argo Hall is open 24/7 with a student ID.

Groceries and everyday needs

Sunshine Market is on Level 1 of Price Center, and the General Store Co-op and Food Co-op are on Level 1 of the Student Center. For a full grocery run, Trader Joe's is at 8657 Villa La Jolla Dr.

Banking

University Credit Union has a branch in Price Center, Level 1, Room 1607.

Care packages

Put the box number on every package, since it is part of the address format. Mail slows down during peak periods, so a box timed for finals week may arrive later than you hope. If your student needs to send something back to you, The Trove on Level 2 of Price Center sells shipping supplies and ships UPS, FedEx and USPS, Monday to Friday, 9 am to 3 pm.
