Dates and breaks

When is UC San Diego Family Weekend 2026?

Friday, Oct 16 to Sunday, Oct 18, 2026, according to Parent and Family Programs. Registration and schedule details had not been posted when we checked, so watch the Family Weekend page.

Does UC San Diego get a full week off for Thanksgiving?

No. The registrar lists the Thanksgiving holiday as Thursday and Friday, Nov 26 and 27, 2026. Fall classes end Dec 4 and finals run Dec 5 to 12.

When does winter break start and end at UC San Diego?

Fall finals end Saturday, Dec 12, 2026. Parent and Family Programs lists winter break from Dec 13 to Jan 3, and winter quarter classes begin Monday, Jan 4, 2027.

When is UC San Diego spring break 2027?

Parent and Family Programs lists March 21 to 28, 2027, while Housing's calendar shows March 21 to 27. Spring classes start Monday, March 29.

When is UC San Diego commencement 2027?

The registrar lists commencement programs on Saturday and Sunday, June 12 and 13, 2027. Individual ceremony times and places for 2027 had not been posted yet.

Travel and where to stay

What airport is closest to UC San Diego?

San Diego International Airport (SAN). A UC San Diego travel page puts it about 14 miles from campus, roughly 20 minutes by rideshare depending on traffic, at about $30 to $50.

Can we get from the San Diego airport to UC San Diego by transit?

Yes. MTS Route 992 runs from the terminals to downtown, where it connects to the UC San Diego Blue Line trolley. The Blue Line stops at UC San Diego Central Campus and UC San Diego Health, and a UC San Diego travel page puts the trip from downtown at about an hour and $2.50.

How much does visitor parking cost at UC San Diego?

Visitor (V) spaces on the La Jolla campus cost $4.50 an hour, up to $36 a day, paid through ParkMobile zone 4752 or a pay station. After 5 pm on weekdays and on weekends it is $2.25 an hour with a $9 maximum, and parking is free on university holidays.

Are there hotel discounts for UC San Diego families?

The Parent and Family Programs Visiting San Diego page lists eight Bartell Hotels properties, from the Sheraton La Jolla Hotel about a minute from campus to Shelter Island hotels about 20 minutes away. Bartell offers UC San Diego families 15% off its best available rate at bartellhotels.com/ucsd, and the school's page lists (800) 345-9995.

Move in and move out

When do UC San Diego students have to move out in June 2027?

The 9 month housing contract ends at 3 pm on Saturday, June 12, 2027. Pepper Canyon West residents on 12 month contracts have until 3 pm on Aug 31, 2027.

What can't my student bring to UC San Diego housing?

Housing lists furniture, hot plates, portable heaters, personal air conditioners, extension cords, flushable wipes, candles and incense as items to leave at home. Beds are extra long twins, 36 by 80 inches.

What happens to things left in the room after move out?

At Sixth College in 2026, items left behind were bagged and stored by HDH custodial staff, and students had 90 days to claim them. The housing contract also allows the university to dispose of abandoned property and charge the student for the cost.

Health, safety and local life

What is my student's mailing address at UC San Diego?

It depends on the college. Revelle residents, for example, use their full name, 9450 Gilman Dr., their 70XXX box number, and La Jolla, CA 92092-2008. Your student can find the box number in the housing portal, and each college's format is on the Student Mail site.

Where does my student go if they get sick at night or on a weekend?

Call the Student Health Services main line, (858) 249-3400, for the free 24/7 nurse line. UC San Diego Health Urgent Care at 8910 Villa La Jolla Drive is open daily 8 am to 8 pm, with shorter hours or closures on some holidays, and SHS lists Jacobs Medical Center, 1.6 miles from campus, as the nearest emergency room. In an emergency call 911.

What is the UC San Diego Police non emergency number?

(858) 534-4357. The Campus Safety Escort Service, (858) 534-9255, walks students across campus from sunset to 4 am year round.

Housing, Dining, Hospitality (HDH)

(858) 822-6274. Housing contracts, room assignments, move in and move out, and dining plans. Day to day hall concerns go to the Residence Life office at your student's college.

Financial Aid and Scholarships

(858) 534-4480, fas.ucsd.edu. Aid offers, scholarships and aid paperwork.

Student Financial Solutions (billing)

(858) 822-4727, sfs.ucsd.edu. Tuition bills and payments, including housing damage charges that show up on the student's billing statement. The Cashier's Office is (858) 534-3725.

Office of the Registrar

registrar@ucsd.edu. Enrollment, registration and academic records. Transcript questions go to transcripthelp@ucsd.edu and enrollment verification letters to verificationhelp@ucsd.edu.

Student Health Services

(858) 249-3400. Appointments and the free 24/7 nurse line. UC SHIP insurance questions: (858) 249-4250.

Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS)

(858) 249-0030, weekdays 8 am to 4:30 pm. Choose option 2 after hours for crisis counseling.

UC San Diego Police

(858) 534-4357 for non emergency calls and safety concerns. In an emergency, dial 911; text to 911 also works in San Diego County, including campus. The Campus Safety Escort Service is (858) 534-9255.
