Dates and breaks
When is PLNU Family Weekend 2026?
Friday, Oct 9 and Saturday, Oct 10, 2026, with an optional church service Sunday, Oct 11. Online registration closes Sunday, Oct 4, and an adult pass is $25. Family Weekend
When is move in at PLNU for fall 2026?
New students move in Tuesday, Aug 25, the first day of Welcome Week, at an assigned check in time. Returning students move in Friday, Aug 28, and classes begin Monday, Aug 31.
When are PLNU final exams in 2026 to 27?
Fall finals run Dec 14 to 18, 2026. Spring finals run May 3 to 7, 2027.
When is PLNU spring break 2027?
Monday, March 8 to Friday, March 12, 2027, according to Student Financial Services.
When is PLNU commencement in 2027?
Student Financial Services lists spring commencement as May 7 to 8, 2027, and December commencement as Saturday, Dec 19, 2026. Ceremony times for 2027 had not been posted yet, so check the Commencement page before booking.
Travel and where to stay
What airport do we fly into for PLNU?
San Diego International Airport (SAN). From the airport, take a rideshare, or ride the free San Diego Flyer to Old Town Transit Center and then MTS Route 84, which serves PLNU on weekdays.
Where do parents park when visiting PLNU?
Stop at the Welcome Center at the Lomaland Drive entrance for a one day visitor permit. If you are staying overnight as a guest, your student orders your permit online before you arrive.
Is there a hotel discount for PLNU families?
Yes. Through the Bartell Hotels partnership, PLNU families get 15 percent off the best available rate at eight San Diego hotels using the booking code listed for each one. Bartell PLNU page
Can a first year student bring a car to PLNU?
No. Residential freshmen are not permitted to have vehicles on campus, and Public Safety lists a $500 fine for a violation.
Move in and move out
What comes in a PLNU dorm room?
A built in desk and chair, a trash and recycling bin, an extra long twin bed, mini blinds, a closet, and a dresser. Upholstered furniture is restricted for bed bug prevention.
How many people can help on PLNU move in day?
Each new student can bring two preregistered guests at no charge and use up to two vehicles. Trailers, rental moving trucks, motorhomes, and RVs are not allowed on campus.
When do students have to move out in May?
Residence halls close at 3 p.m. on Sunday, May 9, 2027, the day after spring commencement weekend, according to the registrar's academic calendar. Spring finals end May 7, and the Housing Office emails residents with move out instructions and deadlines.
How can my student store or ship things from PLNU over the summer?
PLNU Mail Services offers USPS, UPS, and FedEx shipping, and outgoing mail that reaches them by 2 p.m. goes out the same day. Many families also rent a self storage unit in San Diego for the summer.
Health, safety and local life
What is my student's mailing address at PLNU?
Your student's full name (not a nickname), then 3900 Lomaland Dr., San Diego, CA 92106. Packages are picked up at the Cabrillo Annex behind Cabrillo Hall.
Where does my student go if they get sick at PLNU?
The Wellness Center in Nicholson Commons, (619) 849-2574, on weekdays. After hours, PLNU points students to urgent care for minor issues, and to 911 plus Public Safety at (619) 849-2525 for emergencies.
How do I get PLNU emergency alerts?
PLNU uses Rave Alert for emergency texts and emails, and parents can sign up at getrave.com/login/plnucommunity.
Parent & Family Connection

Residential Life & Housing
Room assignments, move in and move out instructions, guest registration, and hall concerns. The office is on the third floor of Nicholson Commons, open weekdays 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Email reslife@pointloma.edu or call (619) 849-2482. Summer housing questions go to housing@pointloma.edu.
Student Financial Services
The student bill, payment plans, and financial aid all run through this office in Draper Hall. Call (619) 849-2538 or email sfs@pointloma.edu. Hours are Monday and Wednesday to Friday 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Tuesday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Office of the Registrar
Transcripts and verification services, graduation and diplomas, academic calendars, and the privacy of student records. The traditional undergraduate office is on Lomaland Drive next to Mieras Hall, open weekdays 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Call (619) 849-2289 or email records@pointloma.edu.
Wellness Center
Medical appointments, immunization and insurance requirements for new students, and counseling. Call (619) 849-2574 or email sdwellnesscenter@pointloma.edu. Disability accommodations go through the Disability Resource Center in Bond Academic Center.
Department of Public Safety
Safety concerns, emergencies after you have called 911, parking permits, and Rave Alert. Available 24 hours a day at (619) 849-2525, or by email at publicsafety@pointloma.edu.
Student Life and Formation
This division includes Student Care, the Counseling Center, Campus Ministries, and the Wellness Medical Center. For a serious concern about how your student is doing, the Dean of Students is at (619) 849-2444, and the Dean of Student Care and Counseling is at (619) 849-2596.
Smaller offices worth saving
Mail Services, for lost or late packages: (619) 849-2299 or mailservices@pointloma.edu. Commencement questions: commencement@pointloma.edu. The main university line, (619) 849-2200, can transfer you anywhere else.
Keep in mind that federal privacy rules limit what most offices can share about an adult student without the student's permission, so the quickest answers often come when your student makes the call with you.
