Packing for a far away move in
Our far from home packing list covers what to ship ahead and what to buy after you land.
Before your student arrives
All new Seaver students must live on campus and carry a meal plan for their first two academic years. Housing's living areas include Towers Residence Hall, Seaside Hall, Lovernich Apartments, the Drescher blocks and George Page Apartments.
Housing cannot accommodate early check ins. If you want boxes waiting, ship them to Pepperdine Mail Services up to 30 days before arrival. Mail Services does not deliver those boxes to rooms; your student picks them up at the Facilities Pad, Monday to Friday, 8 am to 5 pm. Use the address format on the local life page, with your student's four digit box number.
Check in
New students follow the move in instructions sent by New Student Orientation, and orientation questions go to nso@pepperdine.edu. Returning Seaver students check in Saturday, August 22 from 1 pm to 5 pm, or Sunday, August 23.
Rooms open without a metal key. Your student holds their ID card to the keypad above the doorknob and enters a four digit PIN, found in WaveNet under Student Services, then ID Card PIN Lookup. Have them look it up before you leave the airport.
Housing's online check in page does not spell out unloading zones or cart rules, so watch the orientation emails for parking and timing on move in day.
What the room comes with
In Towers and Seaside, each resident gets an extra long twin bed, a desk with a chair, a desk pedestal and three stackable drawers. Seaside suites have four double bedrooms around a living room with a modular sofa, loveseat, ottomans and a dining table, and share one bathroom with three sinks and two showers. Towers rooms share a Jack and Jill bathroom with the room next door. Both halls typically house second year students; Towers holds about 275 Seaver students and Seaside about 458.
Beds are extra long twin in every residence hall except George Page F and G blocks, which have extra long full beds. Buy sheets to match.
Packing: bring this
Housing's list includes a pillow, blanket, sheets and mattress pad, towels, storage containers, a desk lamp, laundry supplies, UL approved surge protectors, good walking shoes, earplugs or headphones, and renters insurance. Add a fan: the halls are not air conditioned, except Drescher W.
Packing: leave this home
Housing prohibits candles, incense, plug in string lights (battery powered ones are allowed), halogen lamps and barbecues; electric heaters and air conditioning units; WiFi cameras such as Ring; anything not UL approved, including extension cords; pets other than approved emotional support or service animals; and electric bikes, scooters, skateboards and hoverboards. Toasters and hot plates are banned in the suite style halls but allowed in apartment kitchens.
Move out
Fall: halls close at 9 am Friday, December 18. Spring: halls close at 9 am Friday, April 30, and graduating seniors must be out by 9 am Sunday, May 2.
Housing's spring 2026 check out rules show how the process works. Residents had to leave within 24 hours of their last final or by the posted deadline, whichever came first. Everyone completed a mandatory online check out form (an eCLOM), with a $25 fine for skipping it, and late check outs were not allowed. Expect similar instructions by email each term.
The check out page does not say what happens to belongings left in a room. If that matters to your plans, ask Housing at 310.506.7586 before your student leaves.
Storage and shipping home
Pepperdine does not provide on campus storage. The usual routes: ship boxes home with a national carrier such as UPS, FedEx or USPS (Mail Services runs a retail window on the Facilities Pad, weekdays 8 am to 3:30 pm), or rent a unit at a self storage facility in the Malibu, Calabasas or Agoura Hills area. Match any pickup date against the 9 am closing before you book.
