If your student is sick

USC Student Health runs the Engemann Student Health Center at 1031 West 34th Street on the University Park Campus. It is open until 7 p.m. Monday to Thursday, until 5 p.m. Friday, and until 1 p.m. Saturday when classes are in session. Appointments can be booked in MySHR or by phone. Telehealth also runs on weekends from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

When the clinic is closed, the first call is (213) 740-WELL (9355), which reaches advice nurses, counselors, and confidential advocates around the clock. Student Health's Urgent Matters page links a list of urgent care centers that take the student plan (SHIP through Aetna) with a $50 copay. One downtown location on that list is Exer Urgent Care Downtown, 269 S. San Pedro St., (213) 947-3600, open daily 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. For an emergency room, the same page names PIH Good Samaritan Hospital, 1230 West 6th Street, (213) 977-2420.

Mental health

Counseling and Mental Health is part of USC Student Health and is reached through the same 24/7 number. Students can also text "Trojan" to 741741 for the Crisis Text Line. DPS lists Campus Wellbeing and Crisis Intervention at (213) 740-0411. Save these in your own phone, too.

Pharmacies

The USC Pharmacy is in King Hall, 1025 West 34th Street, Suite 105, (213) 821-6100. Its posted summer 2026 hours were 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays and closed weekends, so check current hours. The USC Medical Plaza Pharmacy on the Health Sciences Campus, 1510 San Pablo St. #144, (323) 442-5770, is open Saturdays 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. USC also keeps 24 hour wellness vending machines at USC Village and at the Royal Parking Structure.

Campus safety

The USC Department of Public Safety (DPS) answers day and night. On the University Park Campus the emergency line is (213) 740-4321 and the non emergency line is (213) 740-6000. DPS also promotes the LiveSafe app and a Lyft Rides Program for students, so ask your student to look up how those work this year.

Families are not enrolled in TrojansAlert automatically. Text TrojansAlert to 888777 to get emergency texts through Nixle. The list is wiped every August 15, so sign up again each fall.

Mail and packages

Use your student's full name as registered with Housing, the building, the room assignment, and the street address. USC Housing's sample:

Tommy Trojan USC Pardee Tower PTD-901 614 Hellman Way Los Angeles, CA 90089

University Park and USC Village buildings use 90089, and North University Park uses 90007. If you do not have the room number yet, Housing says staff will look it up and notify your student when a package arrives.

Groceries, banking, and errands

USC Village, at 3201 S. Hoover St., has a Trader Joe's, a Target, a USC Credit Union branch, a Bank of America ATM, and a FedEx Office, all a short walk from the USC Village residential colleges.

Care packages

Address boxes the same way as mail, and time the first ones for after move in, since Housing will not accept packages before your student arrives. Because the Postal Service will not forward mail from 90089 housing addresses, stop sending packages a few weeks before move out in May so nothing lands after your student is gone.
