If your student is sick

Chapman University Student Health (CUSH) is at 402 N. Glassell, on the corner of Sycamore and Glassell. It is open Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., and closed weekends and university holidays. Students book by calling (714) 997-6851. Seeing the physician or nurse is free. Medications, lab work, injections and some procedures carry charges. Students on Chapman's student health insurance can use Teladoc after hours.

When Student Health is closed, its FAQ points to two non emergency options:

  • St. Joseph Heritage Medical Group, 2501 E. Chapman Ave., Suite 101, Orange, (714) 628-3300
  • Sunrise Medical Center, 867 S. Tustin St., Orange, (714) 771-1420

The Student Health 2026 referral list names two hospitals: St. Joseph Hospital, 1100 W. Stewart Dr., Orange, (714) 771-8000, and Chapman Global Medical Center, 2601 E. Chapman Ave., Orange, (714) 633-0011. Chapman calls the list a general resource, not an endorsement.

In an emergency call 911. For a mental health crisis call 988.

Counseling

Student Psychological Counseling Services (SPCS) is in the house next to Student Health, at 410 N. Glassell St. Reach it at (714) 997-6778 or spcs@chapman.edu, Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. After hours, SPCS lists 988 and Chapman Public Safety at (714) 997-6763.

Pharmacies

Two pharmacies on the referral list show 24 hour service: Walgreens at 1538 E. Chapman Ave., (714) 288-1790, and CVS at 480 S. Main St., (714) 938-1200.

Campus safety

Public Safety dispatch answers around the clock at (714) 997-6763, and Residence Life tells residents to call it for building emergencies too. Put it in your phone and your student's. Services include Safe Ride, which gives free evening rides on and around campus, blue light phones, and Panther Guardian, the free Rave Guardian app for check ins with family, friends and Public Safety.

Panther Alert sends emergency texts, calls and emails. Parents cannot register themselves. Your student adds you on the Chapman University Emergency Contact Information Form, which holds up to six phone numbers and two email addresses. Alerts come from (714) 997-6815.

Mail and packages

Residents are assigned a campus mailbox (CMB) number. Mail Services gives this format:

Student Name Chapman University One University Dr. CMB [number] Orange, CA 92866

For UPS, FedEx, DHL and Amazon, Mail Services lists 625 W. Palm Ave., Orange, CA 92868, with the same CMB number. Hours are weekdays 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and it is closed weekends and university holidays. A package can take several hours to reach the student pickup centers after it arrives. Questions: (714) 997-6821 or universitymail@chapman.edu.

Groceries and food

Randall Dining Commons, in the Sandhu Residence Center, is the main dining hall, and Doy's Place sells prepackaged meals, snacks and fresh fruit. Campus dining also runs an online grocery store. Off campus, the Trader Joe's at the Mall of Orange, 2114 N. Tustin St., is open daily 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Banking

Chapman's international student office lists three banks within 2 miles of the Orange campus: Chase at 225 N. Tustin St., Bank of America at 941 N. Tustin St. and Citibank at 108 E. Katella Ave.

Care packages

Use the CMB address, and ship so the box lands on a weekday, since Mail Services is closed weekends. Mind the cutoffs: in December packages must arrive by December 11, and in spring 2026 anything arriving after May 22 went back to the sender.
